Here is a list of questions you should ask yourself when looking at security systems that will help you decide which system is right for your home or office.

Do I Need a Backup System? There are two types of systems, hardwired and wireless. Many times thieves will cut the wires and can enter the home or office with no one the wiser to it. If you have a concern for a back up system you may want to inquire about what type of back up system is present should the wires be cut.

What Happens If There is A Power Failure? A power failure can occur at any time and you will still want your house or office protected. Make sure that you know if the system has a backup during power failures. Does it run on batteries or a back up system?  Can your system be accessed remotely from another terminal using a computer program like Putty or even Tight VNC in case there is power failure at your home or even at the main security headquarters?

What Purpose Do You Want The Security System to Serve? Some security systems are only out there to scare away thieves while others are meant to actually trap them and alert authorities. In order to find what system will best suit your needs you need to ask yourself what purpose you wish to have the system serve.

Are there fees for calls to the house? If your system runs on a call center you might want to ask about fees should they come to the house. Some systems will allow you a certain amount of call outs before you are charged, others will charge if it is a false alarm.
